1 1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 egg yolks beaten
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
2 egg whites
6 tablespoons butter
- Stir together dry ingredients.
- Mix the buttermilk into the flour mixture with a wire whisk or electric mixer.
- Beat the egg whites in a separate bowl with a electric mixer until light and fluffy. Set aside.
- Mix in the egg yolks and melted butter into the batter.
- Fold in the egg whites into the batter.
- Cook in waffle iron according to waffle iron directions.
- Serve with syrup of your choice. My favoirte is the pancake syrup.
You can also replace half of the flour with wheat flour.
