Applesauce Cake

This is one of my favorite cakes. I often request it on my birthday. 


1/2 cup of butter
1 cup of sugar
2 eggs
1 cup of applesauce
2 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of cloves
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of allspice
1 cup of chopped raisins
1/2 cup of chopped nuts


Directions

  1. Preheat oven 350 degrees.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar.
  3. Add in the eggs and applesauce.
  4. Mix the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cloves cinnamon, and allspice in a separate  bowl. 
  5. Sift the flour mixture into the butter mixture. Mix in the nuts and raisins.
  6. Put the mixture into a greased and floured 11x15 pan, or a Bundt pan.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes and serve. If baking in a Bundt pan bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Frost with either cream cheese frosting or white butter cream frosting.
